v) There are no real benefits if you are honest. Other that short term stress relief.
SOLVE
i) Gaming is fun and is a good source of entertainment. But it needs to be done in moderation.
ii) Allocate time per day and make sure its a maximum of 2 hours total.
iii) Buy some 2 player games and play them with friends.
iv) Instead of playing games do some exercise.
v) Do work in studios so you cant be tempted by games.
PRODUCT
i) Some kind of program that blocks games
ii) A pop up message offering guilt.
iii) Posters with game characters working jobs.
iv) Books offering time management
v) 'How to not game' Instruction booklet with 50's style self improvement guide. Offer other things to do and use gamer knowledge to affiliate with them.
2) CALL AN OLD FRIEND EVERY WEEK
WHY
i) You dont want to lose friends.
ii) You will become worried and stressed.
iii) Homesickness
iv) You can organise to see each other
v) You can talk about something other than Graphic Design.
PRODUCT
i) A call calendar where you can fill out the names of people you would like to keep in touch with.
ii) Develop a home sickness pack where the central theme is calling people from back home
iii) Android/ App store app that helps you and reminds you who you have been speaking to, for how long and when you last called with countdown timers and a calendar.
iv) Make a poster series highlighting the effects of losing friends and alienating yourself.
v) Draw up a jokey flow chart which will help you discover which friends need to be called and if you should stay in touch etc.
3) DON'T TRY TO KEEP YOUR HOME LIFESTYLE
WHY
i) You have less time to yourself now
ii) You cant spend money on 'luxuries' anymore
iii) This is a tuning point in your life, you need to work hard
iv) You have to look after yourself, everything is reversed
v) Its fun to live in a totally different way and to be responsible for yourself.
PRODUCT
i) Make a catalogue of things that you would be use to at home and the student friendly version next to it.
ii) Create charts of infographs demonstrating the difference between school and uni in terms of time and money. How you spend ti, where it comes from.
iii) Create timelines that exaggerate the future of the student who does not attend uni of try hard
iv) Create some visuals that show how work builds up and up to unhealthy levels if it is not correctly managed.
v) Posters visually explaining how close you are to being totally self dependent. Moving out of home, getting a job to make money for yourself. Doing absolutely everything for yourself.
